The star of the city and center of town is the Ulmer Minster. This Burgerkirche was started in 1377 and was "finished" in 1890 (with renovations will it ever be done). The Minster is one of the largest Gothic churches in Germany and its claim to fame is the 161.5 m (530 ft) spire which is the world's highest steeple. Needless to say the students and chaperons found it to be an amazing place
Inside it was quite chilly but really beautiful
There was lots of opportunity to learn about the history of the church...
And for Mr. Randall to share his knowledge of Gothic architecture
But if like many of the students and Mr. Young, if you're willing to get a little dizzy by going in circles up the 768 steps that lead to the top of the minster's spire, you will be rewarded with some amazing views of Ulm and the surrounding countryside of Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria
