The last week of activities started with another cultural exchange day in the school at Vanier. Tuesday saw Mr. Young take the group to the Horne Lake Caves. The large group was split into three smaller ones for underground exploration of the karst environment.
Wednesday saw Mr. Kochanuk and Mr. McKillican take the group to Campbell River to visit the museum and the harbour. That night, both the St. Hildegard students and their Vanier host families were invited guests to the K'ómoks First Nation to watch the Kumugwe Dancers practice.
And not just watch but dance as well...
Finally on Thursday night (before a super early Friday departure) there was a pot luck dinner held at the Courtenay & District Fish & Game Protective Association Clubhouse on Comox Lake. Many thanks go out to Frau Dr. Lepre for encouraging and supporting the Canada exchange at St. Hildegard as well as to Frau Maurer and Frau Strobel for their leadership, energy, comraderie and friendship. I know I speak for the parents here in the Comox Valley when I say thank you to the students of St. Hildegard for being amazing guests. Although goodbyes are often sad, we knew that just two weeks later we'd be seeing you again
